Costa Rica
My mom and I went to Costa Rica for Christmas and New Years. We went to Manuel Antonio, a town on a cliff on the Pacific Coast, Arenal, a volcano in the north, Samara, a sleep beach town on the Pacific peninsula, and Tamarindo, a less-sleepy and pretty resorty town also on the Pacific peninsula....documentation below.
Views from our hotel room terrace at Manuel Antonio
Sunset from the hotel bar
Christmas Eve dinner
On our first full day we toured Manuel Antonio National Park. Below, a masked tree toad (I think...)
Banana tree. No comment...
3-toed sloth
Up close
The beach at Manuel Antonio National Park...one of the two most gorgeous beaches we saw through the whole trip
We saw monkeys eating fruit skins on the way back to the hotel
Later that day we went on a horse ride...unfortunately a torrential rainfall started halfway through :(
The next day we spent the morning at the beach. It was isolated and goregous. Below is the path to the beach. I was excited before I even got to the end and stepped on the sand
Perfect beach day...
...followed by a gorgeous sunset
Dinner our final night at Manuel Antonio....the ceviche was sooo good
Next stop, Arenal volcano. This was the view from our hotel terrace
Walking up the volcano
Next stop was Samara...this and Manuel Antonio were my favorite two places. This was sunset on the first day. It's just a sleepy, tiny town on the ocean...
Having a drink after a long, hard day on the beach :)
The next day we drove 1 km to my other favorite beach, Playa Carillo. We saw no other tourists the whole morning we were there...this is apparently where the Costa Ricans in the know go to vacation. We had no chairs or umbrellas, but the palm trees provided both a place to rest and shade.
For lunch we got some more yummy ceviche
Our little Samara hotel, by night. All the people were so friendly.
The view from Playa Tamarindo from our hotel room terrace
Same view at sunset....
....and thus ended an awesome vacation!
Next up, Rome once again....hope no one is bored of it, but Questions? No Plan readers know it's my favorite favorite place to document. Pics to come in 3 weeks or so!

...A Few of My Favorite Things
About Rome...
Pizza a taglio, al prosciutto, ai funghi (mushrooms), and alle patate e salsiccia (potatoes and sausage):
Gelato with real whipped cream:
Caffe latte e un cornetto integrale al miele (honey-filled whole wheat croissant):
Fresh fish at Ostia:
Homemade peperoncino and olive oil:
These trees, called pinette, that are particular to Rome:
Villa Borghese:
Buildings with wooden shutters:
That everyone has a balcony:
Buildings that look like this:
Seeing these in random places:
Fiat 500s....the car I would be if I were a car:
Happiness for me....
